Free printable holiday recipe cards are perfect for Christmas food gifts and cookie exchanges as well as winter baby showers, bridal showers, and weddings.
Recipe cards make a great gift for all sorts of occasions. You can include a recipe card with a Christmas food gift or create a present with favorite holiday recipes in a small binder or recipe box. I’ve created 12 free printable holiday recipe card designs for all of your winter showers and Christmas gift giving needs.
How can I use the free printable holiday recipe cards?
- Christmas food gifts. When you’re gifting homemade food or baking mixes, including the recipe on a holiday card is the perfect finishing touch.
- Any other food gift during the holiday season. When you’re bringing someone a homecooked meal after they’ve had a baby or are recovering from surgery, it’s nice to provide the recipe. During the holiday season, a festive card adds a meaningful touch to the gesture.
- Cookie exchanges. Create your own festive recipe cards for upcoming cookie exchanges.
- Winter baby showers, bridal showers, and weddings. I know that many of you are arriving at this post because you’re planning a winter-themed baby or bridal shower or attending a winter wedding. Creating a collection of recipe cards is a great shower activity that makes a personalized gift for the mom- or bride-to-be. Provide recipe cards in the invitations, so guests come prepared with recipes.
- Dinner clubs and potluck dinners. When you’re attending a dinner club or potluck dinner around Christmas, bring extra copies of the recipe on appropriately festive cards.
- Documenting your own holiday recipes. I’ll be honest: one reason I post original recipes on this blog is to create a record for myself. It’s ridiculous how easy it is to forget how you made a dish or to lose track of recipes, even when they’re ones you love. Having fun Christmas recipe cards on hand will help you stay motivated to keep writing down your recipes.
About the printable Christmas recipe cards
The free printable holiday recipe cards are for personal use only. You may print them as many times as you like for gifts, showers, and other personal uses. Please don’t distribute the files. If friends and family are interested in their own Christmas recipe cards, please send them over to this post. Thank you!
I’ve included black borders on the preview images, as it gets confusing having so much white space. The recipe card downloads don’t have black borders. Please don’t save the preview files and attempt to print with them. They are low-resolution and not formatted properly for printing. Use the download files to ensure you’re getting properly formatted recipe cards for 3×5 or 4×6 cards.

Printing the Christmas recipe cards
Most recipe card boxes are designed for 3×5 or 4×6 cards. The sizing makes it extremely simple to print your own cards because you can use any blank 3×5 or 4×6 index cards. Make sure to buy blank, not lined, cards. Every big box store and big box office supply store carries 100-card packs of blank index cards. I’m including purchase links here if you’re interested in ordering large quantities online.
What if my printer doesn’t have a setting for 3×5 or 4×6 printing?
I explain how to add a custom paper size to virtually any printer in my DIY easy candle birthday cards post. Scroll down to the inkjet- or laser-printed “happy birthday” message section.
I imagine that most people using the free printable holiday recipe cards will print out their cards and fill in the recipes by hand. There’s nothing quite like a handwritten recipe.
However, I also love the flexibility that printable recipe templates offer to type in the recipe on the computer before printing the cards. You can customize the spacing, fonts, and colors exactly the way you like. You can even send out your completed cards electronically, making it simple to share favorite recipes in a lovely, easy-to-print form with friends and family anywhere in the country or even the world.
