The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) released an updated specification, AAMA 305-24 Voluntary Specification for Fiber Reinforced Thermoset Profiles, which establishes performance requirements for fiber-reinforced thermoset profiles for use in fenestration products.Fenestration products made with fiber-reinforced thermoset profiles that meet the requirements of this specification are expected to perform well in actual use, assuming adequate product design. The requirements include flexural strength, flexural modulus, water absorption, coefficient of thermal expansion, heat-deflection temperature, weight tolerance, dimensions and lead content. These requirements define structural performance, physical requirements, weight and dimensional requirements, and lead content to ensure that profiles do not contain lead in excess of U.S. safety standards. This specification will assist the architect, contractor, manufacturer, designer, and owner in specifying fiber reinforced thermoset profiles for interior and exterior use in fenestration products, which may have to provide and maintain a standard level of weathering performance. This specification applies to profiles including the main-frame, sash, and all structural components related to glass retention and/or structurally divided lites.https://lnkd.in/gUi2UmHU#WindowDoorNews

Façade basics – what is structural silicone glazing (SSG)? A quick breadown below.. Basic definition:A method used to attach glass to a building's structural without the use of conventional mechanical fasteners (screws or bolts). Instead, a silicone sealant is used to bond the glass directly to the frame, providing structural support. Applications:Curtain walls, window walls, storefronts, punched windows. What factors account for the structural silicone design?▪️ Wind loads – the higher the wind load & the larger the pane of glass, the greater the min. required bite dimension. ▪️Sealant design stress – max allowable stress (pascals or kilopascals) for the specific sealant type you are using.▪️Longest short span – if we have a rectangular shaped piece of glass, we use the shorter of the 2 dimensions (length vs width of glass).Execution:Structural glazing requires precise engineering and quality control to ensure adequate adhesion and performance. Ongoing inspection is recommended to monitor the condition of the silicone sealant and ensure long-term durability.Hope this was a helpful guide.

Understanding your conservation rooflight approval drawingOnce you have placed your order with aconservation rooflight company, this is when they will begin the process of issuing an approval drawing. The purpose of this drawing is to ensure that everyone involved with your project has a visual record of the #rooflight and knows exactly what is being delivered. This should mean that you can avoid any unwanted surprises – especially if you have ordered a bespoke #conservationrooflight.A drawing can contain a lot of information about the #rooflights including dimensions, weight, glass specification and various other important design features which will help you better understand the product. It is important that customers read and understand the information that is contained within the approval drawing to avoid any confusion or unpreparedness for things such as the size and weight of a #rooflight when it arrives on site. This useful guide is intended to highlight the key points of an approval drawing.https://lnkd.in/dd8aBAyF

We often find, when reviewing design packs that there is plenty of information missing, fairly basic stuff too. The reason we would be reviewing this information is becuase a client has asked us to produce a Bill of Quantities (BoQ).See below a recent list of queries we raised in relation to a project. This was fully designed and passed to us to produce the BoQ:1️⃣ The ceiling, wall, and floor finishes are not shown in the provided drawings. Please provide the drawings.2️⃣ There are no drawings provided for FF & E. Please provide the drawings. (FF&E = Fixtures, Fittings and Equipment).3️⃣ There are no enlarged drawings provided for the apartments. Please provide the drawings.4️⃣ Could you please provide the following detailed drawing [Dwg. Ref: 2180-T-67 & 212-T-64]?5️⃣ There are some wall types that are not included in the wall buildup drawings. Please provide (We provided screenshot to indicate).6️⃣ There are some Hard landscaping materials that are not included on the Landscape drawings [Dwg. Ref: 1305 - DWG 09- Landscape masterplan - Ground floor -]. Please provide. (We provided screenshot to indicate). This was just round 1 of the Queries. ❓Now do you think that if this design pack was just lobbed over the fence to 3 Contractors to price, would they take the time to review the drawings and specifications in detail, pick out these queries, chase the responses and then price adequately? And then at the end of the day they have a 33% chance of winning the job....Chance are they wont. But whats the cost to the project if you price without having the detail, chances are its sky high or way too low.Someones getting a fat wallet or someones getting their bacon trimmed. Neither are accurate.Nether are of benefit to the client. Why not empower your team and supplychain, given them a robust pricing document and work with them for the betterment of the overall project.Take off Bill®#boq #billofmaterials #construction #billofquantities #tendering #commercialmanagement #quantitysurveying

Understanding the A2-s1, d0 Fire Rating for Aluminum Rainscreen Cladding and Powder Coating.Did you know that fire safety forarchitectural finishes can be both stringent and sophisticated? Fusion Facades is here to demystify fire ratings forpolyester powder coatingsand what the A2-s1, d0 classification means for your projects.A2-s1, d0 is a classification system utilised to indicate the fire performance of construction materials, such as coatings, adhering to European standards (specifically EN 13501-1). Here's what each part of the classification means:A2:Indicates the material's contribution to fire in terms of its non-combustibility. A2 signifies limited combustibility, equating to very low flammability andminimal contribution to fire spread.s1:Refers to the production of smoke when the material is exposed to fire. "s1" denotes very low smoke production, implyingminimal smoke emission during fire exposure.d0:Represents the material's production of flaming droplets or particles when exposed to fire. "d0" indicatesno production of flaming droplets or particles, ensuring the material does not contribute to fire spread through the ejection of burning particles. In summary, A2-s1, d0 signifies a material with limited combustibility, very low smoke production, and no production of flaming droplets or particles when exposed to fire. This classification assures a high level of fire safety for the material. Moreover, we offerA1 fire-rated options with ouranodised finishes, providing non-combustible solutions that emit minimal smoke and produce no flaming droplets or particles when exposed to fire.Ready to elevate fire safety in your architectural designs with Fusion Facades?
